Hi Everyone,

Its that time of the year.  FALL!  The weather cools down and life seems to slow down a little.  We spend a little more time indoors and we all know what that means! More time to scrap!  I love scrapbooking fall photos.  I love browns, greens and orange colors.  The muted tones are my comfort zone when it comes to scrapbooking.

Anyway, I just wanted to share a little trick with all of you.  Do you guys love the Tim Holtz ink pads as much as I do?  I can hardly scrapbook a page with out using some distress ink.  Distressing really can soften layers.  Tim holtz makes several ink pads just tim holtz ink padsfor distressing!  They come in every color imaginable.  Sometimes when you use an ink pad to distress you can get a harsh effect if your not careful. I’ve got a trick for that.  The top layer of the distress ink pad will come off.  Simple peal off the top edge.  If you have trouble just grap some tweezers or sand the edge a little.  When you take it off you will get a totally different effect in your distressing.  The edges will be softer.  Instead of a flat felt surface it becomes more fuzzy.  You will be able to rub the entire square of the ink pad on your paper without getting the image of a square on your page…know what I mean?  It will be much more blendable.  When someone shared this trick with me I loved it but was worried it might dry out my ink pads.  I have had several of them like this for 2-3 years and it hasn’t been a problem at all.  They even make reinkers that will last forever.  A few of my favorite colors are the brushed corduroy, walnut stain and antique linen.   I’ve also included a picture of some paper.  You can get an idea of a few of the colors.  2 of these ink pads have my “special treatment”.  I’m sure you can see the difference.

The blog has been a little quiet these days…

While we’re on this whole back to school subject, I have to say I am THRILLED to see MZ hosting the Kimber McGray class coming up on the 20th of October! I first laid eyes on the way cool acrylic albums when MZ treated the Design Team to a day at the CHA Summer 2007 Show. I knew then these clear arcylic albums would been a super cool way to display memories, but Kimber’s twist with the Making Memories Halloween line is so cutting edge. I am so excited to learn how to make these albums for friends, gifts and for our family’s treasured times!

Like I said before, learning something new has always been important to me especially when it has to do with my  scrap booking!  And don’t forget…just hanging out at MZ with people who love this hobby as much as you do,well you know it will be a blast!

So what are you waiting for?  Sign up today, the girls at MZ have two sessions set up for this one.

For more information on this and other classes be sure to check out our online calendar

 See you there!
