We all know little gifts are a killer with anyone! Young, old, married or not. And for us crafty types……it’s always a good idea to have a little crafty inspiration! Why not try making a cool little tag to hang from your Valentines goodies this year. And I’ll show you how to use a paper piercer and a rub on tool while we’re at it.

All you need is a tag, paper piercer, brads, rub on letters, rub on tool and some scraps from your stash. I also used some cool felt from Fancy Pants Designs for this project. After you have a basic idea of where you want your paper, adhere that to your tag. I laid out where I wanted the felt to go and used my rub on tool from EK Success to gently rub on my letters. (I love this tool! i no longer have to fear about breaking a popsicle stick inbetween my fingers! A must have for everyone who uses rub ons a lot!) After the rub ons, use your paper piercer to punch a hole through the felt and tag together. This will be the spot where you insert your brad. I used some ribbon at the top of the tag and tied this to my goody bag.

And there you have it! A gift anyone will love and you were able to be crafty while giving it!

Enjoy!

circle techy upclose

Keeping with the swing of things! A new technique today. Have you figured out I like to make a mess yet? So keeping in rare form….we’ll play with paint! Take a look at the little teaser….ever wondered how to get those perfectly round, trendy circles? Keep reading! Then you can run to your bathroom and start working on your own. Yes! I said bathroom. Your supply list starts with an empty toilet paper roll (or a paper towel roll). Paint___brushes__project paper___

circle paint supplies

step 1/2

for today I’ll be working in my art journal, but you can use this technique directly on your scrapbook projects.
When you have decided on the area you would like your circles…..

step 3

dab your empty roll into your paint. More is less in this area. The roll is not like stamping, the edges are REALLY thin.

step 4

Then gently “stamp” the circle onto the project. Try and get a visual idea of where you are going with your design, that way you won’t mess up the embellishments or photos if you have any on there already.

step 5

If you work on your project before embellies and photos…you are free to add more stamping or painting. In the last photo I added a stamp to my project, right on top of the circles.
Make sure everything is dry before you add the rest of your embellishments.
Voila! A new technique! Visit the TMZ Gallery to see my finished project.
Happy painting!

Superbowl Sunday….

January 20, 2008 on 11:18 pm | In Card making, Events, Papercrafts | 4 Comments

It’s time again. Superbowl is right around the corner. What category are you in? The diesuperbowl sunday projects hard football fan, the half time show watcher, or the “I don’t go near the TV” on Superbowl Sunday person? If you’re any one of those I have a cute little project for you!

Weather you’re watching or hanging out with the girls because your partner is awol, these super easy projects can get you in the mood for Superbowl Sunday! First, you need an invitation for everyone. I found this cool template at Paper Crafts Magazine. I printed the template directly onto the cardstock, then cut it out. I used Fancy Pants stamps and some Scenic Route chipboard to decorate the front. Everything is quick and easy….remember to try and keep it simple.

Every Superbowl has a load of snacks! So why not decorate some paper bags!? You can even use these as quick and easy centerpieces and spend pennies while doing it. Just trim a strip of cardstock and print out “Half Time” or your fave teams name off the computer. A couple of staples and you’re done!

Voila! Easy projects to satisfy your create nerve!
A touchdown for sure!

R U Organized?

January 14, 2008 on 10:44 pm | In Organization, Scrapbooking Tips, Uncategorized | 6 Comments

Or do you want to be? With the new year ahead of us, there is no better time than the present! This time of year is one of my fave’s when it comes to getting organized. Especially in my scrap oasis. During the year my scrap magazine fettish pile gets quite large. And I wouldn’t have room to create if I didn’t deal with the pile. So, every year in January I take the magazine pile and start flipping through till I find my favorite layouts, new techniques, or project ideas I wanted to try out. I tear out all the pages and cut down the ideas. Then I organize them into a journal or notebook with that year on the cover somewhere. Then I’ve leveled the pile down, and can start fresh every year! And when I need some inspiration at a crop….all I have to do is whip out my latest notebook filled with fresh ideas and techniques. And i didn’t have to carry ten magazines with me filled with sticky tabs!

So how do you keep organized in your scrap space?
EnJoy!

Looking for inspiration?

January 8, 2008 on 12:13 am | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment

in·spi·ra·tion [in-spuh-rey-shuhn] –noun

1. an inspiring or animating action or influence: I cannot write poetry without inspiration.
2. something inspired, as an idea.
3. a result of inspired activity.
4. a thing or person that inspires.
5. Theology.

a. a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul.
b. the divine quality of the writings or words of a person so influenced.
6. the drawing of air into the lungs; inhalation.
7. the act of inspiring; quality or state of being inspired

Inspiration (scrap bookers meaning): the sometimes missing element when trying to put together a fresh or interesting layout, card or project.

Well, OK, maybe it’s not as technical as the aforementioned dictionary version but you get my point right? Inspiration, something we, the lovers of the paper crafting hobby world, frequently search for.

For me searching for inspiration can consume a good chunk of time. Sometimes its found pouring out of the monthly publications. Other times I find it as soon as photos are freshly printed and they scream “layout.”

Other times the internet is my friendly idea generating machine. I have found a few websites that absolutely inspire me in my quest for a new twist:

www.pencillines.com

www.pagemaps.com

www.mysketchworld.blogspot.com

www.beckhiggins.com

www.pamgarrison.typepad

www.creatingkeepsakes.com

www.carolwingert.typepad.com

www.bhgscrapbooksetc.com

www.cathyzielske.typepad.com

www.thememoryzone.com

The Memory Zone never fails to provide inspiration by means of great card, project & layout examples, the newest products, up to the minute new idea books, cutting edge classes, a friendly staff that always help and now the hottest thing going…The Creative Cafe’. Not to mention, the MZ’s website/message board/photo gallery chuck full of cool ideas.

Inspiration can come from other sources too. Like a trip to the library, the mall, a new restaurant, a museum, the zoo or an antique store. Maybe it’s a little quiet time spent walking and observing nature, playing with the kids’ paints or playdough, or listening to music that sparks your creativity. Look around your town, neighborhood or home for things in a new perspective. Magazine, billboards or other advertising can offer out of the box layout ideas, too. Another benefit these activities is fantastic photo opportunities.

I hope this helps you in your search for inpiration.

Please leave your comments and post any other sites or ways you find inspiration. I can’t wait to see what great ideas you have!
