There will even be a little RAK from me… Let’s see what you ladies can do… So Let’s Get Scrappin’… Please tell your friends and family about the fun we are having with the sketches. They might want to be included in the fun…

I will give you two weeks to do your layout. Please post your layout by Monday night April 14.  I will post the winner on the message board Tuesday April 15 afternoon…..

This is week eleven sketch… And you will soon see this layout hanging in our favorite scrapbooking store: The Memory Zone.

I used my new favorite tools Tim Holtz design ruler and Bazzill in stitch’z templates.  I also used Creative Cafe felt flowers, Making Memories Rub-ons, black brads, red floss, and secured the flower with tacky tape..

Have fun and Happy Scrapping…

Prima Flower Butterflies (beth’s blog)

March 29, 2008 on 2:38 pm | In Embellishments, Papercrafts, Scrapbooking Tips | 2 Comments

Have you ever been working on a cute girl or baby page & thought to yourself, ”If they only made some butterflies that matched the rest of my layout”….well, now you can make your own & it’s waaaaay too easy! You can make them simple or bling them up.

All you have to do is look no further than your Prima or Making Memories paper flower supply (we all have more than we know what to do with, right?) They come in any color under the rainbow & in several sizes & styles. The great thing about this nifty little idea is that the only supplies you need are a pair of scissors & your imagination! You can pretty much figure this out just by looking at the example. Now those are my kind of ideas, just see it & do it!

In the first example, we’ll use the basic 5 petal Prima flower, that is a staple in every scrapper’s collection. For the sake of aesthetics, pick the most defective petal of the 5. Take your scissors & snip out that petal by following along the petal all the way to the center where there are usually 3 small slots precut by the manufacturer. Your butterfly is pretty much done!

Here, I like to add some Stickles around the outside edge of mine to give it a little something extra. I’ve used the Crystal color because it tends to pick up the color of flower well, but the possibilities are endless!

With this one, I’ve layered a smaller one on top of a larger one for an even more dimensional look. Once the butterflies are adhered to your project, you can then add some little Stickle curls at the top, like little antennae. Then you can add little swirls or dashes to give the impression of movement in flight.

Now you’re all set to add some Butterfly Kisses to your projects, just in time for Spring & Summer!

Have Fun!!
Beth

Well I think there was some confusion about what we are doing and that we are give you two weeks instead of one to finish the sketch… I hope that if you have a problem you will send me a message or talk to Marlene.. I think the calender for the end of March and April may help you.  I will also post a reminder on the message board.

Tantilizing Textures!

tantalizing texture idea bookHere is a quick, easy, smack yourself on the forehead, give yourself a V8 idea to adding texture to your projects! Anyone can get their hands on Quickutz embossing dies. They are inexpensive (if you already own a Quickutz system), and easy to work with. I decided to take an example from an idea book at the store right now…”Tantalizing Textures” from Memory Makers. If you are dying to add a little something to your projects, but aren’t sure where to start, I really recommend this book!
So here’s what you do….since the Quickutz embossing dies are 2in x 2in you pretty much have an idea of what your limitations are using this embossing die. So I took the technique and used it all the way around the EDGE of my project(like they did in the book). It was fast, fun and user friendly! You can kick it up a notch when you’re using your cardstock as your base. Want to do something more to it….rub chalk on top of the embossing like I did HERE, or sand it down. This technique really works great on cards too!

charity sorrells easter goody bagIt’s almost time! Before you know it Peter Cotton Tail will be hopping down the Bunny Trail! And what should every good Bunny Helper have up her little bunny sleeve? A cute little goody bag for all those cute little bunny treats!

Did you know the AccuCut machine at TMZ has an adorable template to make your own personalized goody bags? Weather you make them for school, Sunday School or your Easter Dinner table, these cute little bags can be dressed up or dressed down depending on how many you need to make.

I decided to add some buttons and some hand-stitching to my goody bag. Add a little ribbon and you can tie a name tag to it for a place setting at the dinner table. All I have to do later is add a little grass and a cute little bunny treat! Toodles!

scared of his shadow

March 13, 2008 on 6:36 pm | In New Scrapbooking Products, Papercrafts | 2 Comments

That’s right….the groundhog was scared by his shadow! And you know what that means….
6 more weeks of winter! Ugh! So I have a little early spring treat for you!

Did you know TMZ has an AccuCut machine? They do! And I tell you…..I just love this thing!early bird charity sorrells dt the memory zone
Marlene took the time to show me all the cool dies they have available. I was completely surprised when I found these adorable birds! There are 3 different sizes! And the nice thing about this machine is that it will cut through chipboard too! So you can pick out your paper and grab a package of chipboard while you’re at the store, and be 1/3 of the way done with your project. The girlz at the store help you with the cutting, and all thats left is the gluing.

They even have the dies to coordinate with the Bare Elements line of products! Want to make the adorable princess castle for those photos of your last trip to Disney? But you’re afraid of all the work cutting out all the pages? Never fear…..they have the die to cut each page out! All you have to do is pick out the paper you want to use and glue them on! It doesn’t get any easier than that! And you’ll have one of your own killer completed projects, like the ones you’ve been drooling over at TMZ.

Cheers!

Masked Marvels!

charity sorrells mask technique the memory zone dtI know! Here I go again! But I can’t help it! I am hopelessly attached to my paint. And YOU want a new technique, DON’T YOU! This one is simple, quick and F-U-N! All you need is:

PAINT
MASK
PROJECT BASE(layout, paper, anything you can alter)
EMBELLISHMENTS
PAINT PEN or MARKERcharity sorrells mask demo 2 the memory zone dt

One of my fave online girlfriends showed me the light on this project! Thanx Pink Chi! And I’ve used Heidi Swapp masks before on layouts, but never on anything else. So what a perfect idea to scrapjack from one of my fave people. Here we go!
I decided to find the same small, round mirrors used in my scrapjack. My favorite part after the technique, is the quote Julia used on her mirror. After cleaning the fingers prints off the mirror, I placed the mask where I thought itcharity sorrells mask technique3 the memory zone dt would be best. Using the Making Memory paint, I covered the entire part of the mirror. You can carefully peel off the mask while the paint is still wet, then set the mirror aside to dry. After it’s dry you can add your journaling, title or quote with rub ons, markers and/or stickers. And don’t forget the extra embellishments! What girl doesn’t like bling?

Want to see the finished project? Come on over to the gallery….and make sure to show me your finished project when you get the time to try this one out! You can also see how Design Team member Kelly Crowl used the Heidi Swapp dot mask on one of her layouts.
Cheers!
