Family Questionnaire Layouts
April 30, 2008 on 10:27 pm | In Papercrafts, Scrapbooking Tips, Uncategorized | 2 CommentsFamily questionnaire layouts….written by Molly Walsh
What got me started doing them?
I attended a NYOBC Class on Self Centered. It asked some pretty good questions…I wonder what other people would answer. I went to my next family gathering with a pen and paper in hand with my first question, “What’s your favorite memory of Grandma?” Let me tell you that was a good conversation starter and we talked for hours about the past. That year, when I made Grandma her calendar, that question appeared as one of the layouts above the month. It was the talk of the calendar and voted favorite layout.

Now I attend every family gathering with my pen and notebook with some off the wall questions. It’s MY baby. My cousin’s and sister’s have kids to show off. I have my questionnaire layouts. I think everyone looks forward to my baby…guessing what tricks it can share.

April 24, 2008 on 7:56 am | In Papercrafts, Photography, Scrapbooking Techniques, Uncategorized | 2 CommentsI figured it was time to give you something a little more challenging. Get you outside the box again, in the forbidden zone! I know…you stress about the challenging blogs! But….take a few deep breaths and repeat after me. “I know I can, I know I can, I know I can. I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and darn it! people like me!” SEE! Don’t you feel better already? I’m going to introduce you {or re-equate you} to the world of Photo Transfer.
transfer verb = to pass or cause to pass from one person, place, or situation to another: move, transmit.
It’s all a very easy process. Not overwhelming in any manner. And if it is, you didn’t do it right…teehee! Let’s start with a supply list.
- color copied photos {black & white work best}
- clear, wide packing tape
- shallow bowl of water
- your creative mojo

Take your back & white colored copy and apply the clear packing tape across the photo. Cut your photo down to the desired size and place this into the bowl of water. After the paper photo is completely wet and has soaked for a few minutes, you should be able to start rubbing the paper away from the tape. Do this until all the paper is removed and all that is left is the image on your tape!

You can see the finished projects in the Design Team Gallery……HERE! I hope you enjoyed this techy! It’s always fun to revisit old possibilities!
Toodles!

Have you ever used Stickles {glitter glue}, paint on stamps, or embossing powder on your projects? If you’ve used any of these products, then you’re in for a treat! Liquid Pearls will give you some of the same cool effects, without all the fuss of stamps and paint, or embossing pads, embossing powder and a heat gun. Just throw a few of these small bottles in your tool bag and go. They offer the great option of writing words, outlining details…

and endless fun! There is a wide variety of colors to choose from and they are reasonably priced.
If you haven’t tried them…..I suggest you get at least one! You don’t want to say you never tried, right? What fun would that be? You may be happily surprised at your results!
Cheers!

Can I get anymore distressed?
April 9, 2008 on 9:31 pm | In Card making, New Scrapbooking Products, Papercrafts, Scrapbooking Techniques, Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Can I be anymore distressed? Of course I can!
If I don’t feed my children, get the laundry done, forget to go to the grocery store and get milk for breakfast, remember that I really need to get those homework sheets signed and I still need a shower! You betcha! You don’t want to be the fly on the wall at my house if I’m not able to follow the drill-like routine of every day life at my house. Teehee!
But how can I manage to help you be more distressed you ask? Would you like to babysit my 5+2 for an evening? Oh! Okay.
Well, I guess the ONLY way I can distress you will be by telling you my shabby chic distress secret! SSssshhhh!
I have to tell you about my fave tool first! It’s the Edge Distresser….Heidi Swapp makes one, and Making Memories has a whole kit for the subject! I just love how you can take this small hand tool and run it across your paper. It does involve sharp objects! But your skin never gets involved!
Hold your paper in one hand and run the distress tool across the top of your paper with your other hand. Need it to look shabbier? Do it again. It’s that simple. Make sure to get all the edges you want distressed.
What if the paper rips? Isn’t that what we’re going for….distressed.
How long does the tools sharpness last? I’ve had mine for YEARS.
Are they expensive? Heck no! I’m the Queen of Cheap….remember, i go to the dollar store.
Soooooo….. think you want to get one of these new handy gadgets? (i know Kelly does!) After you work your magic….come back and leave me a comment on this post, with a link to your project! I’d love to see what you come up with!
Cheers!

Change a brewing!
April 9, 2008 on 9:26 pm | In Events, New Scrapbooking Products, Organization, Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Memory Zone LLC is hard at work re-thinking their options.
1. How can they improve their “vision” as a scrapbook store.
2. What direction will they be going in the near future.
3. What can they do to spoil US as their customers.
If you haven’t been in to the store in the last couple of weeks, you are in for a big surprise! Not only are the CHA goodie boxes rolling in, but they are trying to make changes to better serve the dedicated scrapbook/papercrafting customer. Our sister-duo is hard at work transforming their passion into a scrapper’s dream.
When I walked into the store this past week, I noticed a major difference in the direction TMZ is going. I have a love for the modern day bookstore. I can go there and spend hours among the books, feeling comfortable with the “possibilities”. And not feeling claustrophobic like I would in the library. Walking into TMZ this past week was like walking into a bookstore for me.
We, as customers, will be spoiled with more information, more selections, and a chance to have everything at our fingertips. For example…..have you ever left the store knowing you needed a certain tool, adhesive or pen? Once you’ve visited the new tool room, you will never forget another essential. Or not know how a certain brand works or looks like.
Not only will you be informed about upcoming classes and events at the store, but you’ll be reminded about blog and messageboard events too. Just check out the new Message Center at the front of the store! You won’t forget what sketch we’re working on!
So….if you haven’t had the chance to stop in, DO! You’ll be happily surprised at all the exciting things going on at TMZ.

Automated doodle?
April 2, 2008 on 8:37 pm | In New Scrapbooking Products, Papercrafts, Scrapbooking Techniques, Uncategorized | 1 CommentYes…you heard me. Automated Doodle. I know…..what?!
Cricut has a new feature! Pens! Okay, they’re called Color Inks. In many colors! Not just these 5!
So…anyone out there have a Cricut?
I bet you’ll want a few of these before we’re through!
Our Design Team girl, Jennifer Stutzman, created an adorable layout using these cool pens and her Cricut machine! She outlined her title and heart, that she cut from her machine, with the Cricut Colors ON her machine.
Now tell me how cool that is?!
Jennifer says it looks like you’ve matted your finished project from your Cricut. And I think she did an excellent job! Thanks Jennifer for showing off your cool new Cricut toys! I can’t wait to see what you do with the Cricut Vinyl!
